Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay in your cottage. We were so lucky with weather .. dry all week and the locals were all so friendly. The cottage itself was ideal.. warm comfortable and so well equipped.. with walks from the doorstep. We enjoyed the local hostelries and would certainly recommend the cottage and village to others
Bob and Sue (Feb 2013)

We have had a fabulous time here and would like not to leave. Love Evie x P.S. being here really does make you sleep well (April 2003)

Stunning views and a cosy cottage We have had a lovely time exploring Derbyshire ... the fire was very cozy (April 2013)

A beautifully kept homely nest with walks and pubs and friendly local people. We have had a blissful few days walking over hill and dale, sampling local cuisine and ales and chatting and listening to delightful locals (March 2013)

Used the sunbeds in February! A week after snow. A fantastic place for lunch after the Lathkil/Conksbury Bridge walk. Mist and frost also featured in our morning walks and the dogs loved the stay (...) Highlight really was being able to walk the dogs from the doorstep - Bradford Dale to Middleton is a great pre-breakfast hour's walk and take them to both the Farmyard Inn and the Bull's Head. Thanks for a great stay (Feb 2013)

We have had an absolutely lovely weekend - cosy nights by the fire with a bottle of wine, then breakfast cooked with delicious goodies from the farm shop and stunning walks in the surrounding countryside - just what the doctor ordered, can't wait to come back (Nov 2012)

Had a lovely Christmas in the cottage with good walks and friendly locals. Hope to be back soon (Dec 2012)

What a great place to spend New Year. The cottage is that good we didn't even make it to any of the pubs. Great walks too (Jan 2013)

Wow, how great is the location - real peace and quiet. The village has all you need. Friendly locals. Food good at Farmyard Inn. Lots of walks from the doorstep. Loved Bakewell. Cottage garden is delightful. Will definitely be back (Aug 2012)

A cottage that is truly home from home. We loved the cottage and the garden. The sunbeds on a sunny day are amazing. It was wonderful to be able to do lovely walks from the cottage. Best walk to Over Haddon, excellent lunch at Lathkill Hotel, with super walk back along Lathkill Dale. It has been wonderful to leave the car and walk from the cottage. Thank you (Aug 2012)

Had a lovely week despite the weather - rain every day! Cottage very cofortable and in a great location - lots of walks all starting from the cottage - Lathkill Dale (8 miles) Robin Hood's Stride/Elton/Rowsley/Stanton (10 miles) Middleton, and also walked into Bakewell. Arbor Low worth a visit. Good food at the Farmyard Inn and the George, also the Red lion at Birchover, all dog friendly (June 2012)

Had a great two weeks - one of sunshine, one of sun/showers/wind. Favourites included Chatsworth, Keddleston Hall, Tissington Manor, Hardwick Hall, Sudbury Hall, Ashford in the Water. Cottage has everything you need and in a great location (though not looking forward to carrying luggage up the bank!) We'd never been to Derbyshire before but would love to come back! If you're a golfer, check out Cavendish/Buxton, Matlock, Kedleston Hall and Ashbourne. All very welcoming and fun to play (July 2012)

Enjoyed our second visit here and have already discovered new places of interest. Even the weather was kind and allowed us to extend our river walks (June 2012)

What a gem of a cottage. Lovely local community, fantastic walks from the doorstep, lovely food at the Faryard Inn (June 2012)

We are so sad to leave. We have had a wonderful stay, love the cottage and have fallen completely in love with Bradford Dale. Thanks for providing such a pleasant place to stay (P.S. love the hand-made pottery!) April 2012

Our third stay in three years, just as enjoyable as ever, with a mix of old and new walks. Can recommend the tea rooms at Ilam Hall for the views as well as the food, and the George at Alstonefield for food, hospitality and dog-friendliness. Bradford Dale is a true gem and it was good to see it (and Lathkill Dale) with plenty of water again this year. We've been so relaxed and happy, it's going to be hard to go back to the so-called real world (May 2012)

Thanks so much for a wonderful stay - the cottage is perfect. We had some fabulous walks and treated ourselves to a lovely dinner cooked with local produce from the Chatsworth Farm Shop - the cookbooks came in useful. (March 2012)

We have had a lovely time here - all too short. This little corner of Derbyshire is perfect and we've loved exploring it. Had a great day at Chatsworth (recommend the afternoon tea!) and a fantastic walk to Robin Hood's Stride. We'd love to come back and will recommend Dale Cottage to friends and family (March 2012)

It was very nice to come from the winter in Finland to the spring (almost!) in Youlgrave. We had two sunny days and walked a lot in the nature. What a nice cottage! We enjoyed our stay very much and hopefully we will come back some day (March 2012)

We have had an amazing time here. We managed to fit in all our favourite walks - Mam Tor, Kinder Scout and beautiful Dovedale. Also found a couple of new ones right from the cottage. The Faryard Inn was a big hit with us - lovely food and warm welcome. Bankside is an amazing spot (Feb 2012)

We have really enjoyed our stay at Dale Cottage. The highlight was the snow. We loved sledging down the hillside with the children, then sitting by the open fire. We also enjoyed Poole Cavern near Buxton. Monsal Head well worth a visit and we loved the Lathkill Dale walk which included the pub. Fab holiday (Feb 2012)

A great place to stay for a winter holiday - lots of great walks, dog-friendly pubs and excellent beer. - Rachael, David and Gina the dog (Dec 2011)

We have had a wonderful time at the cottage. You have equipped it so well and put a lot of time and care into maintaining the cottage. The weather has been glorious for the time of year allowing us to venture out on lovely walks and visiting Bakewell and Matlock. We have especially enjoyed fussing the various cats who wander into the garden. The locals are all very friendly and welcoming. Thanks for a lovely stay.  - Gemma and Stuart  (Oct 2011)

This cottage is utterly enchanting, a treasure in the Dale. - Adele and Richard  (January 2011)

It was lovely to celebrate Christmas together in a winter wonderland. We've enjoyed walks from the door and cosy evenings in. We went to Arbor Low on a freezing cold afternoon - much more impressive than in summer sunshine - followed by drinks and a warm fire in the pub at Monyash. Thank you.  -  Anne (Christmas 2010)

We have had a wonderful week - an absolutely gorgeous cottage in a lovely village. We have enjoyed some great walks and have been lucky with the weather. Everywhere is so dog-friendly and welcoming, we'll definitely be coming back.  - Lara, Neil and Paxo the dog (Oct 2010)

The cottage provided a very cosy refuge from the October frost, with gorgeous views. We hope to come back in summer to take advantage of the swimming area down in the Dale.  - Annie and Anthony  (Oct 2010)

We had a lovely few days at Dale Cottage. A trip to Chatsworth was our first for many years and the gardens didn't disappoint. The walk along the river to Over Haddon is well worth the trip. Pies from the village shop are very good, but pre-book or go early! - Delphine and Allan from Somerset

Having visited Youlgreave in 1982, we were amazed to see it's hardly changed. The cottage is well-equipped (even borrowed a rucksack) and all very cosy.
